Also, look for features like intelligent and easy-to-use digital controls, a power cook function and built in self-cleaning options that will help you save time.

Convenience

A built in microwave oven combo can free up space on kitchen counters and give a stylish appearance to your kitchen. Because it functions as a microwave and traditional oven, you can heat up leftovers, frozen food items and pre-packaged meals all in one appliance. It can also eliminate the need for a separate countertop appliance or bulky stand-alone wall oven. A combination microwave oven could be a great option when you are looking to improve your kitchen without undergoing any major renovations.

There are microwave ovens in various designs to fit your kitchen decor. Some come with a swing-out right-to-left door, while others have a drop-down design that opens in the same manner as a traditional oven. There is also a microwave oven combo with an open-type drawer that opens in the same way as a cabinet. Microwave drawers are easy to reach and are perfect for small spaces where you need to avoid taking up valuable counter space.

Combination microwaves also come with a range of features to help make meal prep easier and more practical. Some models have the option of a sensor steam mode that adjusts the temperature and duration of your food automatically to ensure that you get perfect steamed fish and vegetables. Other features include the broil element which lets you quickly melt cheese and brown your favorite dish. Crispwave(tm) in turn can grill, bake, and crisp food items.

Think about how often you'll utilize each feature before deciding on a microwave-oven combination. If you'll be using the oven portion of your combo more than the microwave, you may be better off with a double wall oven. A combo oven is smaller in capacity than an individual oven.

After you've chosen the right microwave and oven combo for your requirements, you need to think about how you will install it. Over-the range models are mounted over your cooktop or stove, and plug into a power outlet. Built-in microwaves are inserted into the walls or cabinets of your kitchen. Certain models come with trim kits to ensure that your new microwave is in line with the cabinets you already have.

Energy Efficiency

A built in microwave oven combo can provide a great space saving option for those with smaller kitchens, regardless of whether they reside in a house or apartment. They can help save space in cabinets that would be taken up by separate appliances, and can also reduce energy consumption. They generally provide the most efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens, because they use less energy. They can also be used to cook food and warm meals.  integrated combination microwave  eliminates the requirement for other appliances, such as toasters or warming plates.

DOE performs several analyses when evaluating the possibility of amending energy conservation standards. These include market and technology assessments, screening analyses, engineering analyses and national impact analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR DOE will utilize its existing engineering analysis on microwave ovens to determine what degree of efficiency improvements are feasible for this product type.

In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave with an energy performance set of objectives. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of NIA, DOE will assess the impact on consumers, including cost savings over the lifecycle, as well as the simple payback period (PBP). DOE will use the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for microwavable ovens to calculate the industry net present value (NPV).

DOE will also assess the impacts on manufacturers, and will use a modified industry cash flow model specifically tailored to this type of product to estimate manufacturing NPV. Additionally, DOE will consider the potential impact on small-business manufacturers and other manufacturer subgroups to identify any that may be disproportionally affected by these proposals.

DOE will also look into whether the test procedure for microwave ovens has to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an energy use measure. At present, the tests only provide standby mode power usage.

Design

Microwaves produce heat by causing water molecules vibrate in food. Wall ovens are based on the circulation of hot air while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall units combine both appliances into one unit, reducing space in the kitchen and providing a modern and sleek design. It is important to consider your budget and goals before deciding on a combination wall oven. Some of the ovens we reviewed have performance or design issues.
